Inaugurated in 1995, the Volvo China Open is the longest running international professional golf tournament in Mainland China, as well as being China’s National Open Golf Championship.
The 25th Volvo China Open will be held from May 2 to 5, 2019 at Genzon Golf Club in Shenzhen, and is organized by the China Golf Association, co-promoted by Volvo and Mitime Golf and tri-sanctioned by the China Golf Association, the European Tour and Asian Tour. The total prize fund of this year’s Volvo China Open will be RMB 20 million, with the winner taking home RMB 3.33 million.
The field for the Volvo China Open will consist of 156 players with the tournament played over 72 holes (four rounds) of individual stroke play. After 36 holes the field will be cut to the leading 65 players plus ties.
Title sponsor Volvo has the distinction of being the first world-famous brand to sponsor international professional golf in China. For more than 32 years the brand has enjoyed a very high profile in the game, so much so that in much of Europe and the golfing nations of Asia Pacific Volvo has become synonymous with golf. This year the Volvo China Open will become the 138th men’s professional golf tournament to be sponsored by Volvo worldwide and the 88th on the European Tour.
